One thing I have no shame in admitting is my guilty pleasures when it comes to television, and one of these guilty pleasures is drama filled television with white women.
I live for watching petty, catty, and rich white women being MESSY on T.V., which is why Selling Sunset is one of my favorite current shows on Netflix.
I started watching the show when it was already 3 seasons in, and I had no idea what to expect going in, but I have no regrets because I became so addicted.
To break it down, the show is about this real estate group called The Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles that follows the lives of the cast through their career in selling million-dollar homes, and their personal lives.
The show is filled with drama and is hilarious, and the gorgeous million-dollar houses that they show is just the icing on top.
So after finishing the 4th season in one sitting, I wanted to take some time and go character by character and discuss my thoughts on each cast member throughout all four seasons, beginning with:
Jason & Brett Oppenheim

These two are the founders and owners of The Oppenheim Group, I’m gonna talk about them at the same time 'cause truth be told, I can still hardly tell who’s who, but also because there’s not much for me to say about them.
My thoughts on them from the beginning in season 1 are still the same in the end after season 4: they’re boring.
They don’t really add anything to the storyline and are kind of just a waste of screen time.
Half the time they look like they’re being forced to be on the show, which to be honest, wouldn’t even surprise me if that were the case.
Maya

Maya is my girl!
I love this woman so much. I literally can’t think of anything bad to say about her. Throughout the whole series, everything about her makes me love her.
Guess who minds their business and doesn’t engage in petty high school drama?
Guess who simply focuses on her family and does her job and does it well?
Guess who’s preparing to get her brokerage license instead of worrying about drama?
Maya! That’s who!
And not only that, Maya low key be telling the truth.
Every once in a while, here and there, she’ll slip in and throw a low key shade, and then she’ll be like: “no, I was just joking.”
But we know she’s not joking, and that’s what makes it funny.
Mary

Hmmm…… I have mixed feelings about Mary.
Season 1 for Mary for the most part was centered around her relationship with her now husband Romain who’s 12 years younger than her, and I felt weird about it.
Not weird over the age gap, but weird at how they weren’t on the same page when it came to a lot of BIG things such kids, the wedding, their career, etc.
Now, lucky, this was only in the first season and throughout the rest, Mary kinda grew on me.
1. Mary is the best at her job. Say what you want about Mary, but that women can SELL, and the rest of the cast members know this.
They complain that Jason and Brett favor Mary ‘cause they give her the most listings and the most expensive ones, but the truth is, that’s not Mary’s problem.
The rest of the cast aren’t doing bad ‘because Mary is doing good. They’re doing bad ‘cause they’re just bad and you’re involved in stupid drama instead of focusing on selling homes.
Is Mary favored? Yes. Is she the best out of everyone? Yes.
2. Even though Mary’s involved in lots of drama throughout the series, she’s right a lot of the time.
Mary spent the early seasons walking on eggshells around Christine (we’ll get into Christine last ‘cause there’s a lot to unpack), and it wasn’t until the newest season that she finally hit her breaking point and started putting Christine in her place, which I LOVE.
Heather

Heather to me is pretty unlikable for one main reason:
Unprofessional: Right off the bat, she doesn’t seem to take her job seriously. Out of everyone in the Oppenheim Group (with the exception of Amanza), Heather seems to be the least serious about her job.
She allows her romantic relationships to affect her career, and literally interrupts her showing to talk to her boyfriend on the phone…… like…. WHAT?!?
I mean, she really missed a showing for a client ‘cause she had to go to the birthday party of her boyfriend's daughter who she’d been with for a few months.
A FEW MONTHS!!!

Besides that, I just find Heather annoying and she has this irritating laugh that makes her look like she bites people.
Chrishell

Chrishell came in as the new girl in season 1, and I’m gonna be honest, I wasn’t feeling her at first just because she pulled the sob story out one too many times.
We get it Chrishell, you were poor when you were younger and you smelled. Do you have to remind us every 5 minutes?
But apart from that, as the show went on, I liked Chrishell.
Is she my absolute favorite character? No, but I like her, and the big reason why is that she stands up to Christine. (Again, we’ll get into Christine last).
She came across as the “nice girl,” and the thing with “nice girls” is that a lot of the time they’re pushovers, so I was very surprised when Chrishell was very outspoken and quick to defend herself and put Christine in her place.
And on top of that, Chrishell is good at her job. I can tell she takes it very seriously, and it shows with how much she sells.
I just wish she’d have more of a personality outside of hating Christine.
Amanza

I like Amanza and I think she’s hilarious, however, her being friends with Christine makes me side-eye her.
But for the most part, she’s one of my favorite in the series.
In a company where everyone is constantly stabbing everyone in the back, Amanza is the one good friend there.
She seems to be the voice of reason a lot of the time, yet still manages to stay out of drama.
Amanza’s biggest storyline in the series was her situation with her kids and their father,

and what made me upset was Heather almost trying to gaslight and invalidate Amanza’s situation by pulling the, “well we’re all going through something” card.
Amanza deserves better.
Vanessa

Vanessa was the new girl we met in season 4, and I’m just gonna be completely honest and say that I had zero thoughts on her.
I think she’s boring, and throughout the whole season, she was in the middle of everything, hearing all sides of the story.
She had no storyline of her own, so there’s not much to say about her.
I don’t know enough about her to say I liked her, but I don’t hate her.
Davina

Hate!!!
As simple as that.
Literally where do I even begin with Davina?
Christine’s puppet. She follows Christine like a lost puppy and would eat dog sh*t if Christine told her to.
Davina is that person that always feels the need to prove herself, but when she’s given the chance to, she ALWAYS falls short.
She has this big mouth that won’t ever shut up. She tries to justify it by claiming to be “brutally honest,” but NO Davina, you just have a big mouth and you’re very unlikable.
Davina is the only agent on the show that actually has her broker's license, which means that she can start her own firm. So my question is, why not go ahead and do that instead of complaining about The Oppenheim Group and talking non-stop about your broker's license?
Why can’t she sell that $75 million house? The same $75 million house that Jason deliberately and continuously told her NOT to pick up ‘cause it was way too overpriced and wouldn’t sell.

It’s been years and she STILL hasn’t sold it yet. And after leaving The Oppenheim Group over fighting with Jason about that house, she comes crawling back in season 4, asking Jason and Brett to take her back.

We can all have our opinions on the cast of this show, but one universal opinion is that NO ONE likes Davina.
Emma

Emma came in near the end of season 4, and boy did she bring the drama.
As soon as she came in, things just escalated quickly. To break it down:
Emma and Christine used to date the same guy, but according to Christine, he cheated on her with Emma, and according to Emma, the guy and Christine were already broken up.
And then (we’re not done), Emma claimed that when Christine saw her and the guy together in public, she (Christine) went nuts and started chasing Emma, and was banging on her car window, threatening to harm her.
On the other hand, Christine claims that when she saw Emma and the guy, she went up to Emma calmly and just asked her to talk.
———————-—
Now, with that being said, do I believe Christine? No, because she’s created a pattern of being a pathological liar.
Do I believe Emma? I’m not sure.
The whole situation is a she said, she said, and until I get to know Emma more (when season 5 drops), I’m not sure how I feel about her.
Christine

Last but not least, we have Christine. I have a lot to say about her, so let’s just begin:
She’s the mean girl/the “villain,” and she fully accepts that as her role: Every good reality TV needs a good villain, and that’s Christine. Even though Davina is also a villain, there’s a clear difference between her and Christine.
Think of this way, there’re two types of villains: 1. The villain that we hate and want gone and 2. The villain that deep down, you know the show would be nothing without them, and you sometimes low key love them.
Davina is the first type of villain while Christine is the second.
Pathological Liar:

When it comes to Christine, her and lying go hand in hand. I don’t know if she understands that everything she says is being caught on camera, but the way she’s able to just bluntly LIE is outrageous to me. This is why I don’t trust anything that comes out of her mouth. All she does is LIE, LIE, and LIE.
Egotistical:
Does Christine truly believe that she’s better than and above everyone else on the show? She’s not. She can have as big of an ego as she wants, and put others down in order to make herself feel better all she wants, but it just makes her look very insecure and obnoxious.
Bad Person:

Christine is one of those people who think that being mean is cute and makes you look like a bad b**ch, but I’m here to tell you that it’s not and it doesn’t.
Christine loves drama and is the biggest hypocrite on the show, and I just can’t name any redeeming qualities she has. She’s not “brutally honest,” she’s just rude and stuck-up.
She loves bringing up how she was bullied in school ‘cause all the girls were “jealous” of her, and the guys used to pick on her but secretly wanted to date her, which first of all, DELUSION, and second of all, ironic considering the fact that she herself is literally a bully now.
Christine and Davina are the type of people to see someone sneeze, and then get mad because they can’t sneeze.
They’re very jealous and envious people with their “it should have been me” mentality.
Selling Sunset is absolutely rich and privileged white women nonsense, but it has me on a chokehold.
I don’t know who came up with the idea of this show, but that person is a genius.
I love real estate shows, so when you add drama to it, I LIVE for it.
I‘m so here for a fifth season!!!
